Mirical LLC runs kopicam. This describes exactly what leaves your phone and why.
Photographs you use to build a camera
They are sent to our server and on to Google's Gemini API, which reads them to work out the colour and tone settings that recreate their look. They are downscaled first and sent for that single request. We do not store them, and under Google's paid API terms they are not used to train models. This applies only to the reference photos you deliberately pick (and to sample shots you attach when publishing a camera), never to the photos you take.
Photographs you take
They never leave your device through kopicam. Developing happens on the phone; shots are saved to your own photo library.
Accounts
kopicam has no account until you publish a camera or unlock someone else's. Sign in with Apple then gives us an identifier from Apple and, if you allow it, your name. Your name is never shown publicly: a camera you publish is credited to a creator name you type yourself, or to "a kopi cam creator" if you leave it blank. You may hide your email from us and everything still works. You can delete your account and everything attached to it from inside the app.
What else we store
- Cameras you publish: the recipe, its name, and the sample photos you attached.
- Which shared cameras you unlocked, so access survives reinstalling.
- Purchase records from Apple via RevenueCat, so we know what you are entitled to.
- A random per-install identifier used to rate-limit and to count monthly creation allowance. It is not tied to you and does not survive a reinstall.
How we measure the app
The app records a short, fixed list of events so we can see where people get stuck. That list is the whole of it:
- the app was installed, opened or updated
- you answered the camera permission, and whether you allowed it
- you opened the camera builder
- you asked it to build a camera, whether from photos or a description, and how many photos
- a camera was saved, and whether a free slot, a purchase or a subscription paid for it
- a build failed, and the error code for why
- a photo was taken, and whether the camera was a starter or one you made
- you sent a refine instruction
- the paywall appeared, and what was locked
- a purchase completed, and which product
- a camera was published, how many photos with it, and whether it was listed on your page
Every one is a count with a few fixed values. No photograph, no camera name, no instruction you typed and no text you wrote is ever part of it. These events are counted, not gathered onto a person: our analytics provider is told not to build profiles, and we never send it your account, your creator name or the identifier Apple gives us. There is no advertising, no advertising identifier and no tracking across other companies' apps, which is why iOS never asks you for tracking permission.
Who we share it with
Google (Gemini, for the analysis above), Apple and RevenueCat (payments and entitlements), Cloudflare (hosting and storage), and PostHog (the events listed above). We do not sell personal data and there is no advertising in kopicam.
Your choices
Delete your account in the app to remove your account data and unpublish your shared cameras. Delete a camera to remove it from your device. Contact us for anything else, including requests under GDPR or CCPA.
Children
kopicam is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
